Katie Peabody... dazzled audiences earlier this year in the one-woman show “Matinicus” Peabody is excellent as the governess. Role Abigail Burgess
Peabody’s charming performance... draws the audience into the teenager’s harrowing story of survival. Peabody perfectly captures the adolescent Abbie. She is almost constantly in motion with teenage angst and energy. The actor relentlessly reels the audience into Abbie’s world as her family’s tranquility and safety is upended. By the time the storm arrives, every theatergoer is emotionally gripped on Matinicus Rock with her. It is one of the most mesmerizing performances under the tenure of Artistic Director Jonathan Berry.

Role Abigail Burgess
"Peabody said she believes the story is about women's empowerment, because Abbie stepped up and did what many considered to be a man’s job in a time of crisis. But then she chose to keep doing it — becoming one of Maine’s first lady lighthouse keepers. "And I just think that's really inspirational for many reasons," Peabody said. "But one of them is that I think sometimes it's hard for us to kind of be true to who we are, in spite of the world telling us that maybe that's not who we should be."

While I admire Jo's courage, I have to confess my heart belongs to Beth (Katie Peabody). But I believe Jo's does, too. Every writer needs a loving person who says, “Tell me a story.”

Role Beth March
Cast Original Cast: Amelio Garcia, Rebecca Cort, Cy Paolantonio, Colleen Madden, Macall Gordon, Chike Johnson, Richard Sloniker
Katie Peabody had no problem embodying the beautiful Beth March, shining warmly across the stage like the character in her own home. While Jo is the most obvious protagonist, Beth is the heart—or the conscience, as the Marches call her—of the story. She begins the play, “Tell me a story, Jo.” Without her, there is no story, because without her, there is no Jo. Garcia and Peabody made this apparent through their own beautiful chemistry. Together, they helped each other shine.
